Retired Oklahoma state senator and 2014 US Senate nominee Connie Johnson is running to be governor of Oklahoma in 2022! She has spent over 40 years in public service to our state, working on issues like healthcare, education, prison reform, jobs, Oklahoma's economy, the environment, and so much more.

As a Senator, Connie helped break cannabis’ stigma and paved the way for women in cannabis by introducing Oklahoma’s first medicinal cannabis legislation in 2007.

Sen. Johnson has long been a huge advocate for women’s reproductive health rights, including abortion access. Her 2012 satirical amendment to Oklahoma’s Personhood Bill (providing that anytime a man ejaculates outside of a woman’s vagina it was a violation of the law) highlighted the duplicity in male dominated policy proposals and was the subject of a Jon Stewart’s Daily Show skit entitled “Bro. Choice.” Although voted down. her amendment led to the Bill’s defeat.

As a Native descendant, Connie Johnson will work with our tribes instead of against them.
